When we try to make positive changes to our daily habits, we often focus on all the things that we should avoid, but not what we actually should do instead. The challenge with this approach is that we still focus our energy on the things, that we don’t want. When someone tells you to not to think about sex, what is the first thing you think about? This can be exchange with anything from I don’t want to be late, I don’t want to be overweight, I don’t want to feel tired all the time… I think you get the gist of it.

So how do I shift my focus to achieve the things that I do want; I want to be on time, I want to feel healthy in my body, I want to have enough energy to do all the things that are important to me.

Let me introduce you the concept of the daily D.O.S.E of happiness! Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin and Endorphins are the main four happiness hormones, that help us to feel energised and good about ourselves.

If we look at below overview you can see how your boost each of those hormones in your daily live through exercise, diet, social interactions and being simply present in the moment.

If we lack a particular hormone due to excessive (emotional) stress and we don’t refill our cup, we can risk dis- ease in our body resulting in lack of energy. For instance, if we fail to get into a flow state and rather binge on Social Media or other apps on your phone, you might end up feeling anxious. If you don’t spend any time in nature and in the sun and neglect your gut health and deep sleep with too much sugar and processed food, you might end up feeling depressed.
